It’s very common for people to experience some form of fear and anxiety before going to the dentist. After all, nobody in their right mind would want someone to use drilling machines in their mouth. So, if you feel slightly anxious before your visit to the dentist – you should know that these feelings are normal and that, in most cases, you should suck it up and get the job done.
However, problems may arise if your fear of the dentist is so big that you can’t really get yourself to go to his or her office. There are a few things that you could do in order to make your life easier when it comes to this.
If you have thoughts in your mind that the dentist is a demon from another world coming to take your soul – then you should consider the fact that he or she is just another human doing his or her job. You shouldn’t be afraid to talk to your dentist. And if your dentist is a qualified professional, he or she would love to talk to you and explain what procedures you may need.
Building a connection of trust with your dentist is one of the most important things that you could do in your battle against your phobia. Once you realize that your dentist is just another friendly person – you will see that your feelings of dread begin to subside.
This may be the last thing that you want to hear right now – but the truth is that the more you to the dentist the easier it will be for you to relax and let go of your phobias. And this goes for any other fear really – the more you face your fears, the less they will have an impact in your life. We get it – the first few times may be horrible and you may feel very scared. But with time, these feelings will definitely subside.
Having a routine that calms you down is one of the most effective things that you could do before going to the dentist. We recommend you to do about of meditation for at least 15 minutes. During this time, you will focus your attention on your breathing. You will feel your body calming down. This will help you dissolve your rampant emotions and get it together before going to the dentist.
We believe that everyone can conquer their fears of anything. You just need to do the right things and, one day, going to the dentist will become the easiest thing in the world for you.

Dear Patient,
We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies recommendations. Based on the recommendations from ADA and CSDA into consideration and being mindful of the safety and well-being of our patients and staff, we have made the decision to open our offices from Wednesday May 13th for Emergencies and from Wednesday May 20th for routine dental treatments.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 203-790-0111.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
